All your questions answered
What does a day on safari look like at
Little Enkishui?
Exclusivity means total flexibility
When booking Little Enkishui on an exclusive or sole-use basis, you're in charge! We will offer you advice on how to best take advantage of your time with us, but your safari is yours to design and enjoy at the any pace you like. The sample daily schedule below can be your inspiration.
An early start
Your mornings will start with a warm wake up call from one of our staff, every morning around 05:15. Their greetings are accompanied by a welcome "tea-tray" delivery - with hot coffee, tea, or hot chocolate along with some rusks (a South African style biscotti, perfect for dipping) to get the day started right.
The fire will be lit
Once you have enjoyed your coffee and are feeling ready to tackle the day, head on up to the Little Enkishui fire and meet up with your guide and the rest of your group. For those that are typically hungry at this time of day, a spread of muffins, fruit, porridge, and other goodies will be available - for everyone else, don’t worry, there will be more coffee!
Enjoy the sounds of the bush waking up and some quiet conversation around the fire before heading to the safari vehicles for a morning of exploration and the unexpected as you go off in search of best wildlife moments this landscape has to offer.
Breakfast
Depending on you, your guide and your group’s plans for the morning, there will either be a packed breakfast to be enjoyed wherever you are, or a bush breakfast, which will be setup by our team for you. Our bush breakfasts are an indulgent spread of both Continental and hot, made-to-order English breakfast. Eating amidst the sights and sounds of the bush is an experience you won’t soon forget.
Siesta
After an exciting morning out and about in the Mara Triangle, it's be time to return to the camp for a much need bit of down time. This is the perfect time to catch up on some sleep, photo editing, or that book that's been winking at you for weeks now.
Lunch time
We typically serve lunch from around 14:00 daily. Head on up to the camp dining tent, grab a table, and get read to enjoy something delicious from our healthy and fresh lunch buffet. Our staff will be on hand to assist with any drink orders you may have.
Once more into the field
Just as the sun starts to lose its bite for the day, we will head back to the safari vehicles for another adventure in the Mara Triangle. Generally speaking, afternoon safari drives tend to take on a more relaxed feel than their morning counterparts as the animals have likely taken siestas of their own. Nonetheless, the search for moments both spectacular and life changing never stops. Towards the end of the afternoon, you'll have the chance to stop, jump out, and enjoy the view with a cold beverage and of course some snacks.
One last meal
Upon arrival back at camp, you will have the choice of going straight for dinner or heading back to your tent to freshen up before a delicious, 3-course meal and a chance to catch up on everyone else’s adventures. When you've finished your meal, come join us around the fireplace before you head to bed!
